Several Purple Wave staff members, myself included, have fond memories of FFA while growing up in rural America. Whether we were evaluating livestock then justifying our opinions, learning to plan and work as a team to accomplish our goals, or memorizing the FFA creed and getting comfortable reciting it for a crowd, the FFA program built foundational skills for life.
As far as youth organizations go, the National FFA Organization has been the best for rural and agri-centric students for a long time, and we at Purple Wave believe its role will be even more important in the future.
We are excited to announce a new program that financially supports local FFA chapters. It’s called Bid for Blue. The program is a culmination of several months of dreaming and planning with the great folks at the Kansas FFA Foundation.
Many Purple Wave bidders, buyers and sellers also know about the FFA organization and its positive impact on students. We designed Bid for Blue to engage those members of our community and give them a voice in deciding which local FFA chapters directly benefit from the program’s financial support. Just look for the “FFA Bid for Blue program asset” designation in our auction listings. This John Deere 4wd tractor listing is an example. To learn all the details, visit the Bid for Blue program’s page.
If the initial phase of the program goes as anticipated, we will be launching it state-wide at the upcoming Kansas FFA State Convention in June 2011.
Thanks in advance for helping us make the program a success for FFA members. And, as always, if you have questions or feedback about the program we would love to hear from you!
