Purple Wave Auction and the Kansas FFA Foundation announce the statewide implementation of the Bid for Blue program. Through the program, Purple Wave donates a portion of its commission earned on certain assets to Kansas FFA chapters and the Kansas FFA Foundation.
Over $1250 was donated to the Kansas FFA Foundation and Kansas FFA chapters during the pilot program conducted February and March in the northwest Kansas FFA district. Local FFA chapters receiving donations from the program are Colby, Hill City, Council Grove, Great Bend and Oakley. The donation to the Kansas FFA Foundation supports the Ag Mechanics Career Development Event held in May at Kansas State University.
The first auction with Bid for Blue assets was held in February and three additional auctions in March and April during the pilot program at www.purplewave.com. The winning bidder of each Bid for Blue asset had the option to designate the Kansas FFA chapter that received a portion of Purple Wave’s donation.
“Purple Wave’s continued dedication to the Kansas FFA through the Bid for Blue program is a shining example of a positive relationship born by linking business and industry with agriculture education programs in our state. Purple Wave’s commitment allows our students to develop their infinite potential through premier leadership, personal growth, and career successes. Purple Wave has vowed to support the FFA not only on the community level but through state-coordinated event sponsorships. We are grateful for their partnership.” said Kerry Wefald, executive director of the Kansas FFA Foundation.
The program will be unveiled at the 83rd Annual Kansas FFA Convention held June 1 through June 3 in Manhattan, Kan. The statewide implementation is scheduled for early summer.
