Purple Wave Auction announced today that its customers’ aggressive adoption of Internet-only auctions has led to the closure of the firm’s regional office in Hays, Kansas. Roger Kisner will continue to represent the company full-time throughout northwest Kansas, working with sellers at their places of business. Deb Kisner will also continue her role with the firm.
“This is an exciting next step for Purple Wave and me in the region,” Kisner noted. “The company and I both come from a traditional live auction background, and we’ve been able to take the key components of successful equipment auctions and add modern enhancements. Being full time in the field with sellers and their assets allows Purple Wave to continue delivering high quality professional service in addition to our industry-leading buyer community.”
“Roger and his family have been great ambassadors of Purple Wave in the Hays region for a number of years. We continue to attract and retain key construction, agriculture, government and lender sellers in the area, in large part due to the Kisners’ service-mindedness and the superior auction values we deliver,” Jerrod Westfahl, Purple Wave President and CEO, said. “We’ve more than doubled our business in Northwest Kansas recently, and we expect to do it again this year.”
Shortly after its founding as a live auction firm in 2000, Purple Wave began integrating the Internet into all aspects of advertising and taking bids on consigned assets. Since 2009, all of the firm’s auctions have been conducted exclusively through its website www.purplewave.com. Purple Wave’s staff go to the sellers and their assets, rather than the other way around. As the firm’s Internet-only auctions have grown aggressively, it and its customers have become naturally less reliant on physical facilities and offices.
The closing of the Hays office comes after similar, successful transitions out of physical offices in the Kansas City and Wichita markets.
Auction buyers who previously made payments at the Hays location can make payments by wire transfer, credit card or check through Purple Wave’s headquarters in Manhattan, Kan. All payment instructions are available on auction invoices, or assistance is available by calling 866.608.9283 or by emailing auction@purplewave.com.
