Four auctions added to Purple Wave’s calendar

Each auction is focused on particular types of assets such as ag equipment, construction equipment and government equipment surplus. These specialized auctions allow seller’s equipment to be exposed to the audience searching for specific assets.

Manhattan Community Raises over $35,000 for Haiti Earthquake Victims

Manhattan, KS- Local businesses raised $35,130 in a live auction and event on Wednesday for the Double Harvest Medical Clinic in Haiti, well exceeding the original goal of $6,000. The evening was organized by Amy and Mike Pruss, Diane Cable and Tricia Kaupp. The event was at the Purple Wave Event Center and items auctioned were donated from over 95 local businesses. 100% of the proceeds, including the buyer’s premium, was donated to Double Harvest.

“I wasn’t expecting such a large amount of donations. It started off with a few framed pictures and a goal of $6,000.00 so we could send one shipping container,” Amy Pruss said. “The next thing I know everyone was pitching in and we ended up raising over $35,000.”

Double Harvest will now receive at least two storage containers full of supplies. Plans are being made to see what other needs there are so the donations can be put towards providing as much assistance as possible to Double Harvest and the people of Haiti.

Internet Auction Success Leaves Purple Wave with Available Space

Purple Wave is seeking tenants for excess space available at its Manhattan Kansas facility.

In mid-2009, Purple Wave discontinued live auctions and now conducts all auction events using its industry-leading Internet platform. “Our online auctions were providing such strong results for our sellers, we decided to focus all our company’s resources to our Internet auctions of agricultural, construction and fleet equipment and vehicles” said Purple Wave CEO, Jerrod Westfahl. The company has seen over a 10% increase in gross auction sales since concentrating on Internet only auctions.

The elimination of live sales has left the company with excess warehouse space. “Since we no longer take assets into our warehouse for live sale, we have excess space we can make available to others” said Westfahl. Purple Wave has up to 6,000 square feet of warehouse space, as well as a small amount of office space available. Leasing inquiries should be directed to Ed Eller of KS Commercial (785-228-5302).

Surplus Auction Exceeds Expectations

On Tuesday, January 19, Purple Wave hosted an Internet surplus auction in which items from Fort Scott, KS were included. Final hammer prices exceeded the expectations of Fort Scott officials by more than double.

Purple Wave Auction just added three more auctions to February’s auction calendar. As of January 12, 2010, the total amount of auctions for February stands at five. The auctions are as follows:

Feb 2: Iowa Government Surplus Internet Only Auction
This auction will feature items such as automobiles, trailers and smaller surplus.
Feb 9: Government Surplus Internet Only
There are currently 121 items already listed in this auction. Items range from tractors to smaller assets.
Feb 10: Midwest Internet Only Auction
This auction was recently announced and will include items such as heavy equipment, automobiles and other quality assets.
Feb 17: Construction Equipment Internet Only Auction
