Purple wave recently added four more events to the auction calendar for the month of March. Each auction is focused on particular types of assets such as ag equipment, construction equipment and government equipment surplus. These specialized auctions allow seller’s equipment to be exposed to the audience searching for specific assets.

Surplus Auction Exceeds Expectations

On Tuesday, January 19, Purple Wave hosted an Internet surplus auction in which items from Fort Scott, KS were included. Final hammer prices exceeded the expectations of Fort Scott officials by more than double.

Purple Wave Auction just added three more auctions to February’s auction calendar. As of January 12, 2010, the total amount of auctions for February stands at five. The auctions are as follows:

Feb 2: Iowa Government Surplus Internet Only Auction
This auction will feature items such as automobiles, trailers and smaller surplus.
Feb 9: Government Surplus Internet Only
There are currently 121 items already listed in this auction. Items range from tractors to smaller assets.
Feb 10: Midwest Internet Only Auction
This auction was recently announced and will include items such as heavy equipment, automobiles and other quality assets.
Feb 17: Construction Equipment Internet Only Auction
This auction will sell quality construction equipment and is open to multiple sellers. If you are interested in selling your construction equipment contact Richard Bates.
Feb 24: Ag Equipment Internet Only Auction
Various ag equipment including tractors to trailers will be sold in this event. If you are wanting to sell your ag equipment contact Doug Regehr.

Purple Wave Auction Tapped to Continue Selling Seized and Surplus Government Assets

Purple Wave Auction’s history of serving public sector sellers was recently recognized when two Kansas governmental units extended or awarded contracts to Purple Wave after a competitive bidding and critical review process.

The Kansas Department of Administration exercised its option to retain Purple Wave through June 30, 2011, as the on-call auctioneering service provider for the state. Purple Wave Auction was awarded the on-call auctioneering services contract first in 2004 and again in 2008. The current contract is extendable at the state’s option for up to three one-year periods.

Through the Department-administered contract, auctioneering services are available to all Kansas agencies, counties, cities, townships and other political subdivisions without the need for a separate bidding process. Kansas public sector sellers utilize Purple Wave’s monthly agriculture and construction equipment auctions as well as a bimonthly government auction to sell surplus assets.

The Kansas Department of Revenue-Alcoholic Beverage Control Division separately awarded Purple Wave a contract to sell seized assets for the ABC through September 30, 2010, with seven one-year renewal options. Purple Wave won the only portion of the KDOR contract it competed for. ABC has sold assets through the company since 2005 under the Department of Administration umbrella contract.

In 2008, Purple Wave sold roughly $5 Million in surplus assets for more than one hundred governmental entities including the Kansas Department of Transportation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Department of Revenue and the City of Wichita.
